Roman Fibula

A "fibula" or "bow brooch" had an arched back to hold a bunch of cloth under it. The style known as the "crossbow fibula" had arms on either side to stop the arch from falling sideways when it was worn on flat cloth as illustrated. This delicate piece is based on one found at Hadrian's Wall. Brooch: 25mm long
